MTA HUGH L. CAREY TUNNEL TRIBOROUGH BRIDGE AND TUNNEL AUTHORITY HC-64

The Hugh Carrey Tunnel connects the Southern Tip of Manhattan near Battery Park to Brooklyn. After flooding from Hurricane Sandy in 2012 the electrical switchgear powering the tunnel was damaged and needed replacement. It was decided that the switchgear, which was positioned in a flood plain, needed to be located at a higher level within the building to prevent future outage and damage from flooding. Moving the switchgear included moving the entire room which included lights, cameras, security systems, and more.
