NPS Big Springs - Rehabilitate Cabins, Lodge and Landscape

  • Project Overview:
    • This project rehabilitated historic structures, including the historic dining lodge and cabins, site features, and cultural landscape. The work included: repair or replacement of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems; removal of non-historic finishes; interior and exterior renovation; abatement of hazardous materials; installation of fire suppression systems; and structural damage repairs. Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standards requirements were addressed. 
    • Landscape rehabilitation included addressing water drainage issues, replanting native and historic vegetation, stabilization of stone/rock retaining walls; repair or replacement of wooden stairs, flagstone steps, sidewalks, and site features; repair of damage caused by the 2017 flooding; rehabilitation of trails and walkways; and associated accessibility improvements.
